How to Play
Find My Number is a party game for 2 to 4 players. Everyone hides a number, and everyone hunts. Ask well, bluff a little, and be the last one whose number is still a secret.
Setting up
- Choose how many players sit at the table: 2, 3 or 4.
- Each player locks a secret number from 1 to 100. Nobody else can see it, not even the game screen of another phone.
- When every number is locked, the table opens and the first player asks.
Taking a turn
- On your turn you ask one player one question: "Is it N?", where N is any number from 1 to 100.
- Who you ask depends on the mode, chosen where you set the table up (the offline setup, CREATE OR JOIN, or the FIND ONLINE GAME card): in CLASSIC it is always the next player round the table; in CHOOSE YOUR TARGET you tap any opponent still holding a secret. Classic is on until you change it.
- FIND ONLINE GAME seats you at a public table with whoever else is looking: pick a mode on the card, wait for players, press READY. Two of four is enough to start once everyone seated is ready, and if nobody comes for a minute the card lets you add a bot. At a public table nobody has a name; you are your colour.
- The answer appears on the wall for everyone to see: HIGHER if their number is above N, LOWER if it is below, and FOUND if you hit it exactly.
- Every answer is public. Use what the others learn as much as what you learn yourself.
- The clock gives you a few seconds to decide. If it runs out, the game asks the most sensible number for you.
Being found
- When someone lands on your exact number, you are found. You do not leave at once: you get ONE LAST SHOT, a final question of your own.
- After that shot you are out of the game. You can stay and watch the rest of the table play.
- If your last shot finds someone else, they are on their last shot too.
Winning
- The last player whose number has not been found wins the round.
- If everyone left is on their last shot at the same time, the player with the most hits takes it.
Ways to play
- Pass & Play: one phone goes around the table. Each player picks their number in private, then hands the phone on.
- Vs Computer: you against one to three bots. Choose 2, 3 or 4 players on the setup page and the bots take the other chairs; at the table, pick the mode and the game begins.
- Online: open a room, share the five-letter code, and friends join from their own phones. Everyone sees the same table live. After a round, CONTINUE opens the next one at the same table and keeps the score.
- An account is optional. Open Settings and tap Account to create one with an email and a password: then your player name is yours at every table -- rooms you open or join, FIND ONLINE GAME, and your own seat against the computer -- on every phone you sign in on, and nobody else can use it.
Friends
- From the locker room, the player with the plus opens FRIENDS. With an account, type the first letters of a friend's player name, find them and ask; they accept on their phone, and you are friends. Each friend shows a light: ONLINE while the game is open on their phone, IN GAME while they sit at a table, OFFLINE otherwise. INVITE opens a table and asks them to it: the invite waits on their FRIENDS board for a quarter of an hour, and JOIN seats them beside you. While FIND ONLINE GAME looks for players, a + on an empty chair asks a friend to that table too. A request or an invite is told at the top of the screen the moment it arrives, as long as the game is open. Without an account there is no name to be found by, so the screen asks you to create one first.
The notebook
- At your edge of the table sits a notebook. It keeps every question asked at the table, one column per player: your own column first, then the others in the order the questions go round. Under each figure you see how far the table has closed in on that player, and every number they were asked with the answer's arrow. Tap the notebook to open it, tap outside it to close it.
A few tips
- Halve the range every time and you will find a number in about seven questions. But the others hear your answers too.
- Watch the wall. An answer to someone else's question narrows the same number for you.
- When you are on your last shot, go for the player who is closest to finding the others.
